Pundit explains what Antonio Conte has done better at Chelsea than Jose Mourinho
The Manchester United legend believes Antonio Conte has built a better team spirit at Chelsea than Jose Mourinho
Gary Neville believes Antonio Conte has managed to create a greater camaraderie amongst the Chelsea squad than Jose Mourinho.
The Blues eased to the Premier League title on Friday night thanks to a 1-0 win against West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns thanks to Michy Batshuayi.
The Belgium international’s 82nd-minute winner secured Chelsea’s second title in three seasons and marked an incredible turnaround after a disappointing 2015-16 campaign.
Chelsea finished in tenth place last term after the sacking of Mourinho in December 2015 following a disastrous start to the Premier League season.
Mourinho has since taken over the reins at Manchester United while Chelsea appointed Conte as their new manager ahead of the 2016-17 season.
The Italian coach wasted no time adding some new additions to his squad and managed to get the best out of key men Diego Costa and Eden Hazard.
Speaking to his podcast about the difference between Conte and Mourinho, former Manchester United defender Neville hailed the Italian’s ability to create a great team spirit.
“You can see the camaraderie that exists between Antonio Conte and his players,” said Neville, speaking to the Gary Neville podcast.
“Last season, Jose Mourinho’s team look disinterested but they’ve re-engaged with the club, the manager, the system and the style of play.”
