Cesc Fabregas names the difference between Chelsea and title rivals
The Chelsea midfielder highlights their consistency as the key difference in the title race
Cesc Fabregas has highlighted Chelsea’s consistency as the difference between Antonio Conte’s men and the rest of their title rivals.
The Blues had the chance to move seven points clear of second-placed Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League title race after Spurs lost 1-0 at West Ham United on London Stadium on Friday night.
Chelsea seized their chance to more distance between themselves and Mauricio Pochettino’s side thanks to a 3-0 win against Middlesbrough in the Premier League on Monday night.
Diego Costa and Marcos Alonso scored first-half goals before Nemanja Matic’s superb effort secured three points against Middlesbrough at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have only lost five games in the 2016-17 Premier League season after defeats by Arsenal, Crystal Palace, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
Speaking to Sky Sports about the key difference between Chelsea and their top-four rivals, Fabregas said:
“Consistency. Consistency is key in this league and obviously that run of 13 games winning gave a lot of confidence to the team.
“It’s not done yet, there is one more push we have to make but I think we’ve been the better team and the most consistent definitely.”
Fabregas moved to Chelsea from Barcelona in a £27m deal in the 2014 summer transfer window.
The Blues can win their first title under Conte against West Brom on Friday night.
