Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink sends message to Chelsea about Cesc Fabregas
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink explains why he doesn't want to see Cesc Fabregas leave Chelsea this summer
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has urged Chelsea not to let Cesc Fabregas leave the club in the summer transfer window.
The 30-year-old has found his first-team opportunities at Stamford Bridge to be limited this season following Antonio Conte’s appointment at the west London club last summer.
Fabregas has been limited to just 10 Premier League starts this season but has impressed whenever called upon and has scored four goals and made nine assists in the top flight.
His lack of playing time this season has inevitably caused him to be linked with a transfer away from Stamford Bridge this summer as he searches for regular playing time.
However, former Chelsea star Hasselbaink wants to see the Spaniard stay at Stamford Bridge beyond the summer because he feels he offers something different to Conte’s team.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Hasselbaink said: ”I wouldn’t like to see him go.
“Chelsea don’t have enough players like Fabregas. He’s somebody who can open defences up, who is very good at giving the final pass and just creating.
“I know he hasn’t played as much as he would have wanted, because Chelsea have had a really settled side this year. But I do see him playing a lot more next year if he stays because of the Champions League.
“Things can change all the time in football, so I do see him playing a lot more. I don’t think Chelsea will let him go.”
Chelsea are currently preparing for their home Premier League clash against Middlesbrough at Stamford Bridge on Monday night as they look to take a step closer towards the title.
