Pat Nevin has praised Cesc Fabregas’ impact from the bench throughout the season in Chelsea’s title bid.

The Spain international has struggled to hold down a regular starting spot in Antonio Conte’s side since the Italian took over the reins of the west London club back at the end of the 2015-16 season.

However, Fabregas has enjoyed some run of games in the Chelsea team and has generally had a positive impact on the west London club’s results.

The former Arsenal captain came off the bench last weekend to help Chelsea ease to a 4-2 win against Tottenham in their FA Cup semi-final at Wembley.

Fabregas was instrumental in Chelsea’s 4-2 victory over Southampton upon the leaders’ return to Premier League action on Tuesday night.

And former Chelsea winger Nevin praised how Fabregas has finetuned his ability to come off the bench and control games for the west London side.

“Fabregas quietly comes on and he holds the ball. When he does that, it changes the game as well,” Nevin told Newstalk.
