Antonio Conte sends message to Chelsea fans about David Luiz
Antonio Conte is hoping that David Luiz will be fit for Chelsea's clash with Middlesbrough next week
Antonio Conte has told Chelsea fans that he is hopeful David Luiz will be fit for next week’s clash with Middlesbrough at Stamford Bridge.
The Brazilian defender limped off in the second half of the Blues’ 3-0 win over Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon and looked to be in some discomfort.
However, Conte has revealed that he is hoping that the defender’s injury is not too serious and is confident he will be fit for next Monday night’s game in west London.
Conte told his post-match news conference on Sunday: “I didn’t speak to the doctor about his injury but I don’t think it’s a serious injury. I hope he is available to play the next game.
“Also at this part of the season sometimes it’s important to try to play even if your condition is not 100 per cent.
“David is showing us great commitment this season. Don’t forget he has an injury in the knee after the game against Man City.”
Sunday’s win took Chelsea a step closer to the Premier League title but Tottenham kept up the pressure on the Blues with a 2-0 victory over Arsenal.
Chelsea will secure the title if they win three of their remaining four games.
Conte’s side are also chasing FA Cup glory this season and will take on Arsenal in the final at Wembley next month.
