David Luiz has insisted that he and his Chelsea team-mates are not taking anything for granted ahead of their crunch clash with Middlesbrough on Monday night.

The Blues are two wins from lifting the Premier League trophy after Tottenham were beaten 1-0 by West Ham United on Friday night.

Chelsea have been the Premier League’s top performing team this season and Antonio Conte’s men are currently four points clear at the top of the table.

Luiz has enjoyed a successful return to the west London club following his move back from Paris Saint-Germain last summer.

The Brazilian says he and his Chelsea team-mates are lucky to be in the position they are in ahead of their clash with Middlesbrough on Monday.

Luiz told Sky Sports: “I think you have to enjoy it [the pressure of being top].

“We have to know our life is great, and it is a pleasure to wake up every day, you never know if you wake up tomorrow, so we need to enjoy it in the best way,” he added.

“Of course with the compromise, with the focus, everything, and the responsibility to understand your job, but of course with the pleasure of enjoying the job too.

“It’s nice to have the pressure, this means we are fighting for something big.”
