Frank Lampard opens up about ‘angry’ Chelsea star: He’s world class
Chelsea's record goal-scorer hails Diego Costa as a world-class striker
Frank Lampard has hailed Chelsea’s controversial Diego Costa as a world-class striker.
The Spain international won his second Premier League title with Chelsea on Friday night thanks to a 1-0 win against West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns.
Costa didn’t manage to get on the score sheet against the Baggies as second-half substitute Michy Batshuayi netted the winner with eight minutes to play.
The former Atletico Madrid striker has played a vital role in firing Antonio Conte’s side to the Premier League title following a return of 20 goals in 34 games this season.
Costa has been linked with a big-money move to China in the summer, while Atletico are thought to be interested in re-signing the 29-year-old at the end of the campaign.
Speaking to Sky Sports about Costa following Chelsea’s fifth Premier League title, the club’s record goal-scorer Lampard said:
“We see the anger on the pitch but behind the scenes he’s a big joker. As a striker he is one of the best in the world, without a doubt.”
Chelsea will take on Arsenal in the FA Cup final at Wembley as Conte looks to complete a brilliant double in his first season in English football.
