Rio Ferdinand: What I really think about Chelsea star Eden Hazard
The Manchester United legend discusses what he likes about Chelsea forward Eden Hazard
Rio Ferdinand has hailed Eden Hazard’s brave performance for Chelsea in the 2016-17 season.
The Belgium international has been a vital cog in Antonio Conte’s side in the current Premier League campaign.
Hazard has scored 15 goals and has made five assists in 33 games to help Chelsea move seven points clear at the top.
The 26-year-old is closing in on a second title in three seasons at Stamford Bridge but a first FA Cup trophy.
The former Lille playmaker netted 14 times in Chelsea’s title-winning campaign in the Premier League season.
Writing about Hazard in his Times column, Ferdinand discussed which of the forward’s attributes have left on impression on the Manchester United legend.
“To somebody like me, who is 6ft 3in, a player who is that height, quick, sharp and can turn on a sixpence, you don’t want them anywhere near your ankles.
“You want them on the touchline as far away as possible.
“Normally you can physically dominate little players. You can get your hands on them and drag them about a bit. But not Hazard.
“He is strong, has big legs, a big backside and he’s brave.
“For somebody to receive the ball as often as he does, with opponents kicking him and trying to smash him — believe me, he is brave.”
Hazard will be hoping to get Chelsea over the line on Friday night when Antonio Conte’s side make the trip to West Bromwich Albion.
Chelsea will take on Arsenal in the FA Cup final at Wembley later this month as their Italian boss looks to complete a domestic double in his first season.
