Frank Lampard believes that Antonio Conte’s focus on the fitness levels of his players has been one of the key factors behind Chelsea’s success this season.

The Blues were crowned as Premier League champions on Friday night thanks to their 1-0 win at West Brom.

Conte’s impact at Stamford Bridge this season has been nothing short of remarkable given that the Blues ended up 10th and without a trophy last season following the sacking of Jose Mourinho.

The Italian manager is known for demanding the best from his players and working them hard on the training pitches.

And Lampard believes that is one of the key factors Conte has been able to implement at Stamford Bridge this season.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Lampard said: “The really impressive thing is that he’s run them. The improvement in fitness levels is obvious. It’s exactly what Chelsea needed.

“He’s taken a squad with basically the same players, apart from N’Golo Kante and David Luiz, who were failing last year.

“He’s changed the same group of players with the work rate and the passion.”

Chelsea will host Watford in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.
