Frank Lampard has singled Gary Cahill out for special praise following his big contribution to Chelsea’s Premier League title bid this season.

The England defender scored the Blues second goal as Antonio Conte’s men took a step closer towards winning the title with a 3-0 win at Everton on Sunday afternoon.

The 31-year-old has scored six goals in the Premier League and eight in all competitions for Conte’s side this season and has been captaining his team in John Terry’s absence.

And former Chelsea star Lampard has been delighted by Cahill’s contribution after his goal at Goodison Park on Sunday.

Speaking on Sky Sports after the game, Cahill said: “Gary Cahill has scored eight goals this season now.

“Some defenders go up for corners and don’t sniff the danger; you don’t feel like they’re going to make a difference. Cahill has done it time and time again.”

Cahill will be expecting to start for Chelsea when the Blues take on Middlesbrough at Stamford Bridge next Monday night.
