Gary Neville believes that Marcos Alonso has proved himself to be a key attacking threat for Chelsea this season.

The defender arrived at Stamford Bridge from Fiorentina last summer and has been a regular fixture in the Blues side this term, scoring six goals and making three assists in 29 Premier League games.

Alonso has slotted seamlessly into Conte’s 3-4-3 formation this season and has contributed both in defence and attack for the west London side.

And former Manchester United defender Neville has been very impressed by Alonso’s displays for the Blues this term.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, Neville said: “When Chelsea didn’t have Marcos Alonso [during the 2-0 loss to Man United] at Old Trafford, they missed him. He’s a threat going forward.”

Chelsea have the chance to win the Premier League title on Friday night when they take on West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns.
