Rio Ferdinand sends message to Chelsea fans about Pedro
The Manchester United legend heaps praise on Chelsea star Pedro for his opening goal at Goodison Park
Rio Ferdinand has singled out Pedro Rodriguez for special praise after the Chelsea forward’s sensational opener in a 3-0 win at Everton on Sunday afternoon.
The Spain international started in Chelsea’s front three as Antonio Conte’s men looked to edge a step closer to the Premier League title this season.
And Pedro made the breakthrough in the 66th minute with a stunning long-range strike to help Chelsea end Everton’s resistance at Goodison Park.
Late goals from Gary Cahill and Willian sealed three points for the visitors in their pursuit of a first top-flight crown under Conte.
Pedro has scored eight goals and has made eight assists in 31 appearances in the Premier League this term.
Former Manchester United defender Ferdinand was impressed with Pedro’s opener on Merseyside.
“Pedro – just for the goal he scored. He could have been on the pitch two minutes and banged in the goal the way he did,” Ferdinand said in a video on his YouTube channel as he picked his team of the week.
“He would have been in this team. He scored an important goal at an important time.”
Chelsea signed Pedro in a £21.75m deal from La Liga giants Barcelona in the 2015 summer transfer window.
The Blues will take on Arsenal in the FA Cup final at Wembley after a 4-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the last four.
