John Hartson has praised Antonio Conte for the “magnificent” signing of N’Golo Kante and says Chelsea will be worthy Premier League champions.

Kante joined the west London side from Leicester City last season after helping the Foxes to win the Premier League title last season.

The French midfielder has been one of the Premier League’s standout performers this season and was voted as the PFA player of the year last month.

Chelsea are now just two wins away from lifting the Premier League trophy in Conte’s first season in charge at Stamford Bridge.

And former Arsenal man Hartson has credited Conte with masterminding the dramatic turnaround at Chelsea this season.

Speaking on BT Sport’s Premier League Tonight show, Hartson said: “I’ve been really impressed [by Conte].

“He’s got the best out of Diego Costa again after there had been one or two issues. Eden Hazard is back to his best. The signing of N’Golo Kante has proved to be magnificent.

“If they win the title, which I think they will, they thoroughly deserve it – they’ve been the best team.”

Chelsea are currently gearing up for their crunch home clash against Middlesbrough in the Premier League on Monday night as they look to take a step closer towards winning the title in Conte’s first season.
