Victor Moses: What Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has taught me
The Chelsea winger explains how Antonio Conte has helped the Nigerian develop as a player
Victor Moses has revealed that Antonio Conte has helped the Chelsea wing-back develop the defensive side of his game.
The Nigeria international was out-of-favour under Jose Mourinho after the versatile midfielder was sent out on loan to Liverpool, Stoke City and West Ham United in recent seasons.
Conte, though, opted to utilise Moses in a wing-back role as part of his 3-4-3 formation to help Chelsea move to the brink of a first Premier League title under their Italian coach.
Moses has scored three goals and has made two assists in 32 appearances in the Premier League throughout the 2016-17 season.
Discussing Conte’s impact on his playing style since Conte’s appointment as Mourinho’s permanent replacement, Moses told Chelsea’s website:
“I’ve been learning a lot defensively, the manager has been teaching me in training and I’ve taken everything in.
“When I play against a winger, I’m a winger myself so I understand what they’re going to do before they try to go past me, so it makes it a lot easier.
“The manager knows I’m good offensively but defensively I need to improve more and the manager really gets on top of me in training and makes sure I’m doing the right thing.”
Chelsea were 3-0 winners against Middlesbrough on Monday night thanks to goals from Diego Costa, Marcos Alonso and Nemanja Matic at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues are seven points clear of second-placed Tottenham Hotspur in the title race with three games to.
Chelsea will take on Arsenal in the FA Cup final at Wembley later this month.
