Gary Neville has warned Antonio Conte that Chelsea will need to improve the depth of their squad ahead of a return to the Champions League.
Chelsea won the Premier League title on Friday night thanks to a 1-0 win against West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns.
Michy Batshuayi scored the winner in the 82nd minute thanks to a close-range finish to secure Conte’s first Premier League title.
The Italian took over the reins at the west London side at the end of the 2015-16 season after Chelsea finished in tenth place in the table.
Conte signed five players in the summer transfer window as the Chelsea boss looked to overhaul his ailing squad.
The Blues manager is now facing the challenge of refreshing his squad ahead of a return to Europe’s premier club competition next term.
Speaking to Sky Sports about the signings that Chelsea need to make in the summer transfer window, former Manchester United defender Neville said:
“That’s the challenge for next season. It’s a big job to do – Conte’s got an 11, but he’s not got a 22.
“The drop from the number one position to the number two position is high.”
Chelsea won the Premier League title for a fifth time on Friday night.
