Antonio Conte urged to make this many Chelsea summer signings
Tony Gale believes Chelsea need three or four signings in the summer transfer window
Chelsea need to sign three or four players ahead of their return to the Champions League next season, according to Tony Gale.
The Blues won the Premier League title at The Hawthorns on Monday night thanks to a 1-0 win against West Bromwich Albion.
Belgium international Michy Batshuayi scored an 82nd-minute to wrap up a second title in three seasons ahead of their return to the Champions League.
Chelsea were 4-3 winners against Watford at Stamford Bridge on Monday night as Conte’s second string got a chance to impress their manager.
The Blues famously struggled to cope with the demands of domestic and European football in their title defence in 2015-16, which led to Jose Mourinho’s sacking and a tenth-place finish.
Former West Ham striker Gale believes Conte needs to add three or four players to his squad in the summer transfer window in order to prepare Chelsea for competing on two fronts next season.
“I still think Chelsea will go into the transfer market, three, probably four top quality players that maybe wouldn’t be squad players but go straight into the team or certainly be challenging more than the players who were on the pitch last night [against Watford],” Gale told Sky Sports News HQ.
“Chelsea will strengthen, they have to strengthen for a double-pronged campaign.”
Chelsea are seven points clear of second-placed Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League table.
The Blues can win the double if Chelsea beat Arsenal in the FA Cup final at Wembley on Saturday 27 May.
