Gary Neville sends warning to Chelsea about replacing Diego Costa
The Manchester United legend says Chelsea will struggle to find a replacement for Diego Costa
Gary Neville has warned Antonio Conte that Chelsea will find it difficult to find a player to replace Diego Costa.
The Spain international has been in scintillating form in the 2016-17 season to help Chelsea to win a second title in three seasons.
Costa has scored 20 goals and has made six assists in 34 appearances in the Premier League in the current campaign.
However, the 28-year-old striker has been linked with a big-money switch to the Chinese Super League at the end of the 2016-17 season.
Atletico Madrid are thought to be interested in re-signing Costa from Chelsea after the centre-forward moved to the English capital from los Rojiblancos in 2014.
Speaking Sky Sports about how Chelsea will replace Costa should the 28-year-old leave the west London club this summer, Neville said:
“If he leaves, he will be huge void to fill. How does he replace that personality and goals?”
Romelu Lukaku has been touted as a potential replacement for Costa in the 2017 summer transfer window.
Chelsea won the Premier League title with two games to spare thanks to a 1-0 win against West Brom on Friday night.
