Chelsea to battle with title rival for £40m defender – report
Chelsea and Man City could push Kyle Walker's price tag up to £40m as the rivals do battle for the right-back this summer, according to reports
Chelsea’s battle with Manchester City to sign Kyle Walker could push the Tottenham Hotspur defender’s valuation up to £40m, according to reports in England.
The Daily Mail is reporting that Premier League champions Chelsea are desperate to sign the England international in the summer transfer window.
Walker has struggled to secure a starting spot in the Tottenham side in recent months following the emergence of Kieran Trippier at right-back in Mauricio Pochettino’s first-team.
The same article states that Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola are looking to recruit Walker in the summer after Pablo Zabaleta played his final game for the Citizens on Tuesday night.
Walker, who is England’s first-choice defender under Gareth Southgate, is currently on a contract worth in the region of £70,000 a week at the north London club.
Chelsea have been using Nigeria international Victor Moses at wing-back on the right side of Antonio Conte’s defence throughout the 2016-17 season.
The Blues were crowned as Premier League champions at The Hawthorns on Friday night.
