Frank Lampard admits he has been impressed by Romelu Lukaku's development at Everton in recent seasons
Frank Lampard has admitted that he has been hugely impressed by Romelu Lukaku’s brilliant form for Everton this season the striker continues to be linked with a transfer to Chelsea this summer.
The Belgian forward is the Premier League’s top goal-scorer after netting 24 goals and making six assists in the top flight for Everton this season.
Lukaku was unable to score when he came up against his former club Chelsea on Sunday, however, as Antonio Conte’s men secured a 3-0 win at Goodison Park.
The 23-year-old has been touted as a possible transfer target for Chelsea this summer as Conte begins to think about bolstering his squad before next season.
And Lampard, who played alongside Lukaku at Chelsea, says he has been very impressed by the striker’s development since his move to Goodison Park.
Speaking on Sky Sports on Sunday, Lampard said: “He’s a very different player now, he’s improved a lot.
“He was quite raw at Chelsea before – you could see he had the talent but he wasn’t ready to be a Chelsea striker. But what I did see was his work-ethic at the training ground.
“He’s taken that through with him now. Maybe he doesn’t get the credit he deserves.”
Chelsea take on Middlesbrough in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge on Monday night as the Blues look to take a step closer towards the title.
