Robert Pires has hailed Monaco midfielder Thomas Lemar as a brilliant player amid reports linking the Frenchman with a move to the Premier League.
The Ligue 1 side have been one of the most exciting clubs to watch in the Champions League this season, with their attacking brand of football earning plenty of plaudits.
France teenager Kylian Mbappe has become one of the hottest properties in European football after his sensational performances against Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City.
Benjamin Mendy and Tiemoue Bakayoko have also been linked with a number of Premier League clubs following their performances for the Champions League semi-finalists.
However, Pires has been particularly impressed with Monaco midfielder Lemar, who has been linked with a summer switch to Chelsea and Manchester United.
Speaking to bwin about the 21-year-old attacking midfielder, former Arsenal star Pires said:
“I love him as a footballer, he’s a brilliant player. I think he can be the star player for France in the next five years, he’s that talented.”
Lemar has scored 12 goals and has made 10 assists in 44 games in all competitions for Monaco in the 2016-17 season.
Monaco will take on Juventus in the Champions League semi-finals.
