Pundit: Antonio Conte doesn’t need to make this Chelsea signing
The former Spurs striker has been impressed with Chelsea full-back Victor Moses this season
Chelsea don’t need to sign a wing-back in the summer transfer window thanks to the form of Victor Moses, according to Garth Crooks.
The Nigeria international didn’t make an impression under Antonio Conte’s predecessor Jose Mourinho after being sent out on loan at Liverpool, Stoke City and West Ham United.
Moses initially was out-of-favour under Conte before the versatile African player became a key cog in the Italian’s team following their switch to 3-4-3 formation.
Indeed, the 26-year-old has scored three goals and has made five assists in 31 appearances in the Premeir League this season.
Former Tottenham forward Crooks believes Moses has established himself as Chelsea’s long-term wing-back on the right side of Conte’s midfield.
“Moses has become such a firm fixture in Chelsea’s title challenge that it’s hard to see how manager Antonio Conte can improve in that area,” Crooks told BBC Sport.
“If the victory over Everton is any indication then the Chelsea celebrations after the game suggested the title has been won. Or at least they have got over what they considered to be the most difficult part of their run-in.”
Chelsea are sitting at the top of the Premier League table and four points clear of Tottenham Hotspur in the title race.
The west London side are looking to win their second title in three seasons but first with Conte.
Chelsea finished in tenth place in the Premier League last term.
