Jurgen Klopp makes claim about Emre Can, Liverpool fans will be excited
Jurgen Klopp says there is much more to come from Liverpool midfielder Emre Can
Jurgen Klopp believes there is more to come from Emre Can despite the Liverpool midfielder’s stunning winner at Watford on Monday night.
Liverpool made the breakthrough at the end of the first half thanks to Can after the 23-year-old scored an incredible overhead kick.
Lucas Leiva picked out the Germany international with a ball into the area before Can managed to contort his body to fire past Heurelho Gomes.
The former Bayer Leverkusen midfielder has become a first-team regular under Klopp since the charismatic manager took over the reins from Brendan Rodgers back in October 2015.
Speaking to Sky Sports about Can’s winner, Klopp insisted that there is much more to come from the promising Germany midfielder.
“It’s not a surprise,” Klopp told Sky Sports.
“It’s very important that Emre is mature. He did really well in his last few weeks since his calf problem sorted.
“He has a lot of good performance but he can play even better than Monday night. I’m not sure he can score nicer goals.”
Can move to Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen in the 2014 summer transfer window under Rodgers.
The Reds are in third place in the Premier League table and four points ahead of Manchester United.
Liverpool are looking to secure a long-awaited return to the Champions League next term.
