Manager: This Liverpool star is as good as Carlos Tevez
Alan Pardew ranks Adam Lallana alongside former Juventus and Manchester United forward Carlos Tevez
Alan Pardew has revealed that he rates Liverpool star Adam Lallana alongside Argentinian duo Javier Mascherano and Carlos Tevez.
The England international started his career at Southampton and would go on to became Saints captain following his influential performances across three divisions.
Pardew, who left Crystal Palace earlier this season, coached Lallana between 2009 and 2010 before taking over the reins at Newcastle United.
The 28-year-old attacking midfielder’s performances for Southampton earned him a big-money move to Liverpool in 2014 under Brendan Rodgers.
Lallana has gone on to establish himself as one of Jurgen Klopp’s most-important players in a Liverpool team that is closing in on a return to the Champions League.
Pardew coached Argentina internationals Mascherano and Tevez during his West Ham United reign before the South American duo became top Premier League players.
But the former Southampton boss says that he would rate Lallana alongside the Argentinian pair in terms of his technical ability.
“He has fantastic technical ability in tight areas. You associate that with Italian and Brazilian players,” Pardew told Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football.
“Lallana is as good as any player I’ve worked with. I include in that Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano. He has got the technical ability of those guys in small areas.”
Lallana has scored seven goals and has made seven assists in 28 appearances in the current Premier League campaign.
