The Liverpool striker took some positives from Sunday's stalemate with Southampton
Daniel Sturridge felt that Liverpool could take some positives despite Sunday’s goalless draw with Southampton.
Liverpool struggled to make the breakthrough against the Saints as Jurgen Klopp’s side failed to seize the initiative in the top-four race.
Sturridge was a second-half substitute but the England international was unable to inspire the Merseyside outfit to three points.
The Reds were let off the hook after Arsenal were 2-0 winners against Manchester United thanks to goals from Danny Welbeck and Granit Xhaka.
Sturridge, though, was in an upbeat mood despite Liverpool’s top-four blow following their stalemate with Southampton.
The Liverpool striker wrote on his Instagram page: “Almost got the W today but we can take some positives… #redordead”
Sturridge has only started five games in the Premier League this season after struggling with injury problems throughout the campaign.
The England star has scored two goals in 18 appearances in all competitions in the 2016-17 Premier League campaign.
The 26-year-old moved to Liverpool in a £12m deal from Premier League rivals Chelsea in the 2013 summer transfer window.
