Ian Wright predicts where Liverpool will finish
The former Arsenal legend warns Jurgen Klopp that Liverpool could miss out on a top-four finish
Ian Wright believes Liverpool could be caught in the top-four race given the Merseyside club’s inconsistent form.
The Reds are in third place in the Premier League table but only two points ahead of their bitter rivals Manchester United in the race to secure a place in next season’s Champions League competition.
Liverpool looked to have cemented their top-four claim with successive victories over Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion, but the Reds suffered a setback last weekend.
Indeed, Christian Benteke came back to haunt his former employers Liverpool after the striker scored either side of half-time to secure a 2-1 win for Crystal Palace.
Speaking to The Sun Goals podcast about Liverpool’s top-four challenge, former Arsenal striker Wright warned Klopp that his Reds side are in real danger of missing out on a Champions League spot.
“When you look at Liverpool’s form and the fact they’re conceding goals, the injuries they’ve got, they’re really limping to the end,” Wright said.
“If anyone is going to be caught, it might be Liverpool. They’re really starting to struggle.”
Liverpool finished in eighth place in the Premier League table last season after Klopp replaced Brendan Rodgers back in October 2015.
