Jurgen Klopp sends message to Liverpool fans about top four
The Liverpool manager was in a bullish mood when asked about his side's top-four prospects after a goalless draw with Southampton
Jurgen Klopp insisted Liverpool will keep fighting in the top-four race despite dropping points in a goalless draw with Southampton on Sunday.
The Merseyside outfit had the chance to move seven points clear of Manchester United ahead of the big Premier League clash at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Liverpool were looking to beat Southampton for the first time this season after losing twice to the Saints in the EFL Cup and drawing 0-0 at St Mary’s in the Premier League.
James Milner had the chance to make the breakthrough in the 64th minute when Jack Stephens was adjudged to have handled the ball in the area under pressure from Emre Can.
However, the Liverpool vice-captain missed his spot-kick after England international Fraser Forster managed to get a hand on the 31-year-old’s penalty effort.
Speaking to Sky Sports about Liverpool’s top-four bid ahead of their trip to West Ham United in the Premier League next weekend, Klopp said:
“It is not finished yet. We all have to play our games.
“We go to West Ham and try to win and that’s all we can do. We try everything and we do not stop.”
Liverpool are looking to improve upon on eighth-place finish.
