Jamie Redknapp: This Liverpool star sees the bigger picture, he’s magic
The former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp believes Philippe Coutinho sees the bigger picture unlike most players
Jamie Redknapp has praised Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho for his mesmerising performance in Sunday’s 4-0 win at West Ham.
The Brazil international teed up Daniel Sturridge for Liverpool’s opening goal at the London Stadium after the attacking midfielder threaded an incisive pass to the feet of the England striker.
The former Inter Milan playmaker scored from long range to double the away side’s lead before Coutinho netted a solo goal to make it 3-0 in east London.
Divock Origi completed an emphatic 4-0 win in the Premier League to leave Liverpool in third place and four points ahead of Arsenal in the race to secure a place in next season’s Champions League.
Coutinho has scored 12 goals and has made 10 assists in 30 appearances in the Premier League in the 2016-17 season.
Former Liverpool midfielder Redknapp highlighted Coutinho’s strengths after the Brazilian masterminded the Reds’s win at West Ham on Sunday afternoon.
“We’re seeing Philippe Coutinho playing deep. He produces a fantastic piece of magic,” Redknapp told Sky Sports.
“He finds a bit of space and a little bit of time on the ball. Once he gets the ball, the whole complexion of the game changes.
“He sees the pass. He sees the bigger picture.”
Liverpool finished in eighth place in the Premier League table last term.
