Ray Parlour predicts where Liverpool will finish
The former Arsenal midfielder believes Liverpool are still in control of their top-four fate
Liverpool are still in control of the race for a fourth-placed finish, according to Ray Parlour.
The Reds suffered a setback last weekend after Christian Benteke scored either side of half-time to cancel out Philippe Coutinho’s free-kick and seal a 2-1 win for Crystal Palace at Anfield.
Manchester City and Manchester United played out a goalless draw with the derby mid-week, while Arsenal were unconvincing 1-0 winners against defending champions Leicester City.
Liverpool are in third place in the Premier League table but a mere point points ahead of Manchester United, after Jose Mourinho’s men drew 1-1 with Swansea City on Sunday afternoon.
Speaking to the Alan Brazil Up Front podcast about Liverpool’s chances of securing a much-anticipated return to the Champions League this season, former Arsenal midfielder Parlour said:
“I still think Liverpool will get top four. Their run in is still very much in Liverpool’s favour. It’s all in Liverpool’s hands still.”
Liverpool haven’t qualified for Europe’s premier club competition since 2013-14 when Brendan Rodgers led the Merseyside outfit club to a second-placed finish.
Liverpool finished in eighth place in the Premier League table last term.
