Jurgen Klopp sends message to potential Liverpool signings
The Liverpool manager believes potential summer signings would be moving to an interesting project
Jurgen Klopp believes Liverpool are an interesting project for potential summer signings.
The Merseyside outfit will secure a place in next season’s Champions League if Liverpool can beat Middlesbrough in their final Premier League game of the 2016-17 season.
Klopp made seven signings in the summer transfer window in 2016 after the Liverpool manager led the Reds to an eighth-place finish in his first campaign at Anfield.
Liverpool haven’t qualified for the Champions League since 2013-14 and Klopp will be hoping to do better than Brendan Rodgers, whose side crashed out at the group stage.
Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk has been regularly linked with a move to Liverpool in the summer, while the Reds have also been touted with an interest in Burnley defender Micheal Keane.
Speaking at his pre-match media conference ahead of Liverpool’s clash against Middlesbrough on Sunday afternoon, former Reds boss Klopp backed the club to lure players to Anfield this summer.
“We are a really interesting project,” Klopp said.
“Everybody can see it from outside, the mood is different and a few people are different. But the base is still there – the size and power of this club – and then the perspective. That’s really changed and we feel this in the talks.
“But they have to see it, feel it and then make the decision. We make the decision before we go into talks, of course, because that’s always how it is, you commit 100 per cent.”
Liverpool are in fourth place in the Premier League table.
