Jamie Carragher sends ‘quality’ message to Jurgen Klopp about Liverpool signings
The Liverpool legend says finishing in the top four could affect the quality of Jurgen Klopp's summer signings
Jamie Carragher believes finishing in the top four could affect the quality of signings Liverpool are able to make in the summer.
The Merseyside outfit are embroiled in a battle with Arsenal to finish in the top four and secure a place in next season’s Champions League competition.
Liverpool have struggled to cope with injuries and a loss of form in recent weeks to allow Arsenal back into the race to secure a place in Europe’s premier club competition.
The Reds signed seven players in the summer transfer window in 2016 following an eighth-place finish in the Premier League last term.
Sadio Mane, Joel Matip and Georginio Wijnaldum have all established themselves as important players under Klopp but his other signings have proven underwhelming.
Speaking to Sky Sports about the impact finishing on the top four could have on Liverpool’s simmer transfer activity, Klopp said:
“Liverpool have been in it once in the last seven years. They’ve still bought up and coming players.
“There was Balotelli, Markovic and Lovren. But there was no woah signings. I don’t think Liverpool as a club are that club.
“It will give Jurgen Klopp 50m and might get one or two extra players. It might get your a better quality of player.”
Liverpool haven’t featured in the Champions League since the 2014-15 campaign under Brendan Rodgers.
