Jose Mourinho gives Marcus Rashford injury update ahead of Arsenal v Man United
The Manchester United manager reveals that Marcus Rashford played with an injury in the 1-0 win at Celta Vigo on Thursday night
Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Marcus Rashford picked up an injury during Manchester United’s 1-0 win at Celta Vigo on Thursday night.
The England teenager started up front for the Red Devils in Spain in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final.
Rashford broke the deadlock in the 67th minute with a superb free-kick to secure a narrow win against the La Liga outfit ahead of the return leg at Old Trafford next week.
The 19-year-old has been enjoying a run in the Manchester United first-team following Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s season-ending knee injury.
Manchester United will make the long trip to Arsenal in their next Premier League game at the Emirates Stadium.
Speaking to BT Sport after Manchester United’s 1-0 win against Celta Vigo on Thursday night, Mourinho confirmed Rashford was playing with an injury in the second leg.
“Yes [he is injured]. He started the game with a little problem and obviously with the running he was feeling it.
“Martial was fresh and he had to give us these last 10-15 minutes where we thought we still could score. We tried until the end to win the match and score goals but we missed chances.”
Rashford has scored 12 times in 48 games for Manchester United in all competitions this term.
The 18-year-old broke into the Manchester United first-team under Mourinho’s predecessor Louis van Gaal.
