Jose Mourinho has confirmed that he will rest players for Manchester United’s trip to Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils head into the game on the back of their 1-0 win over Celta Vigo in the Europa League on Thursday night.

Manchester United’s hopes of finishing in the top four this season are still in doubt, with Mourinho’s men currently fifth in the Premier League table.

Mourinho’s side travel to Arsenal on Sunday before hosting Celta Vigo in the return leg of their Europa League semi-final clash at Old Trafford on Thursday night.

And the Red Devils boss has confirmed that some of Manchester United’s regular starters in recent weeks will not feature against Arsenal at The Emirates.

“The players that have accumulated lots of minutes are not going to play next weekend,” Mourinho told his post-match news conference in Vigo,” Mourinho told BT Sport.

“I think in the last match against Swansea [the 1-1 draw at Old Trafford] we lost our last chance to fight for the top four, so I’m going to rest players, yes.”
