Owen Hargreaves opens up about Man United star: He’s a terrific athlete
The former Man United midfielder heaps praise on Ivory Coast international Eric Bailly
Owen Hargreaves has hailed Eric Bailly as Manchester United’s best centre-half this season.
The Ivory Coast international has been a regular fixture in Jose Mourinho’s first-team in the 2016-17 campaign.
The Portuguese coach signed Bailly in a £30m deal from La Liga side Villarreal in the 2016 summer transfer window in his first deal as Manchester United boss.
Bailly has started 21 games in the Premier League this term, missing two months with a knee injury that he suffered in a 4-0 loss at Chelsea back in October.
The 23-year-old has been a rock in the Manchester United defence in the absence of England international Phil Jones and Chris Smalling.
Speaking to BT Sport about Bailly’s impact on the Manchester United side, former Red Devils star Hargreaves was full of praise for the Ivorian.
“He has been their best centre-half this season. he is a wonderful addition to Manchester United team,” Bailly said.
Hargreaves added: “He is a terrific athlete, Eric Bailly.”
Manchester United are in fifth place in the Premier League table and four points behind Liverpool, who occupy the final Champions League qualifying spot.
The Red Devils finished in fifth spot under Mourinho’s predecessor Louis van Gaal last term.
