Henrikh Mkhitaryan sends message to Man United fans ahead of crunch clash
The Manchester United midfielder is feeling emotional after reaching his first European final
Henrikh Mkhitaryan says that he has fulfilled a boyhood ambition after Manchester United booked their place in the Europa League final.
The Armenia international moved to the Red Devils in a £30m deal from Borussia Dortmund back in the 2016 summer transfer window.
Mkhitaryan made a slow start to his Manchester United career after the attacking midfielder struggled to make an impression under Jose Mourinho.
The Armenia playmaker has since forced his way into Mourinho’s first-team plans and has produced some moments of magic in the Manchester United team.
Mkhitaryan has proven a key player in Manchester United’s European campaign after a return of five goals in 10 appearances in the Europa League.
The Manchester United midfielder posted a photo from his childhood on Instagram and posted the following caption on the social media site:
“As a child I could only dream of one day making it to a big European final. Thank you to everybody who supported us last night at Old Trafford! #uel @uefaeuropaleague #mufc @manchesterunited”
Mkhitaryan and his Manchester United team-mates will face Eredivisie giants Ajax in the Europa League final on Wednesday 24 May.
Manchester United are in sixth place in the Premier League table.
