Juan Mata predicts whether Man United will qualify for Champions League
The Manchester United midfielder insists the Red Devils will give everything to qualify for the Europa League
Juan Mata is confident Manchester United will reach the Champions League via the Europa League this season.
The Red Devils lost 2-0 to Arsenal in the Premier League after goals from Granit Xhaka and Danny Welbeck in the second half.
Manchester United have failed to win their last three top-flight games to leave Jose Mourinho’s side five points adrift of Liverpool.
However, Manchester United can still qualify for the Champions League if the Red Devils win the Europa League this term.
Marcus Rashford scored a free-kick winner to secure a 1-0 win against Celta Vigo in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final.
Manchester United will host the La Liga side in the return game at Old Trafford on Thursday night.
Speaking to his blog One Hour Behind, Mata is backing Manchester United to win the Europa League next season.
“We have to focus on the remaining fixtures, starting with Thursday’s important match: the Europa League semi-final second leg against Celta.
“Our options of entering the Champions League through the Premier League have decreased after this week, but we will keep on trying until the last game, first at Tottenham this coming weekend.
“As you know, the other way is by winning the Europa League, and we’re going to give everything we have for that goal.”
Manchester United finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last season which led to Louis van Gaal’s dismissal.
