Jamie Carragher sends message to Jose Mourinho about Man United star
Jamie Carragher tells Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho to give Marcus Rashford a chance up front next season
Jamie Carragher has told Jose Mourinho to deploy Marcus Rashford as an out-and-out striker next season to get the best out of him for Manchester United.
The 19-year-old has been in superb form for the Red Devils in recent weeks and has earned plenty of praise for his performances of late.
The teenager was the star of the show once again as his free-kick earned Manchester United a 1-0 win over Celta Vigo in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final clash on Thursday.
Rashford has been deployed in a central striking role at times in recent weeks following Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s season-ending knee injury.
And Liverpool legend Carragher feels that Rashford deserves a chance to play up front for the Red Devils in the coming months.
Writing in his column for the Daily Mail, Carragher said: “With Zlatan struggling to be back in 2017, Jose Mourinho has two options: buy players or give Rashford his head in his best position.
“Jose doesn’t normally do that but hopefully that will change. This young lad needs to be unleashed as a striker more often next season.”
Manchester United are currently preparing for their crunch Premier League clash with Arsenal at The Emirates on Sunday afternoon.
