Jamie Redknapp believes that Sergio Romero will definitely start in goal for Manchester United against Ajax in next week’s Europa League final.

The Argentina international helped keep a clean sheet for the Red Devils as they played out a goalless draw with Southampton in their penultimate Premier League game on Wednesday night.

Romero has been Jose Mourinho’s goalkeeper of choice in the Europa League this season and the shot-stopper looks set to start for the Red Devils in the final in Stockholm next week.

And Redknapp says he has been very impressed by what he has seen from the 30-year-old in recent weeks.

Speaking on Sky Sports on Wednesday night after the draw at St Mary’s, Redknapp said: He was composed and assured. I think he’s definitely got himself a place in the final, that’s for sure.

“You never know what’s going to happen with David De Gea next year. I thought he was very good today.”

Manchester United will take on Crystal Palace in their final game of the season on Sunday before they turn their attentions to their clash with Ajax in Sweden.
