Jose Mourinho tells Man United fans: This player will definitely start at Arsenal
Jose Mourinho confirms David De Gea will start in goal for Manchester United at Arsenal on Sunday afternoon
Jose Mourinho has confirmed that David De Gea will definitely start in goal for Manchester United in Sunday’s crunch Premier League clash with Arsenal.
The Spanish goalkeeper sat out Thursday night’s 1-0 win over Celta Vigo as Mourinho opted to start Sergio Romero in goal ahead of De Gea.
De Gea has been Manchester United’s first choice in the Premier League this season and Romero has featured in most of the Red Devils’ Europa League games.
Mourinho will have to decided whether to start De Gea or Romero should Manchester United reach the Europa League final in Stockholm later this month.
However, the Portuguese coach has confirmed that De Gea will return to the starting line-up for Manchester United’s trip to Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
Mourinho said: “I don’t like to say this competition is for one goalkeeper and that competition is for another one.
“Sergio played one match in the Premier League and David played two in the Europa League against Fenerbahce and Feyenoord.
“Sergio played also one match in the League Cup, David played the others and played the final.
I don’t like that separation. On Sunday, David will play.
“We have two fantastic goalkeepers and we have a third goalkeeper [Joel Pereira] who I think will be the best Portuguese goalkeeper of the next generation.
“We have great goalkeepers and whoever we play in goal, I trust them completely.”
Manchester United head into their clash with Arsenal five points ahead of Arsene Wenger’s men but having played a game more.
