Rio Ferdinand sends message to Man United fans about Bernardo Silva
The Manchester United legend admits he would sign Monaco midfielder Bernardo Silva this summer
Rio Ferdinand believes Bernardo Silva would be a good signing for Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
The AS Monaco midfielder has been ever-present in the Ligue 1 outfit’s starting XI throughout their 2016-17 Champions League campaign.
Indeed, the Portugal international has helped AS Monaco to reach the semi-finals of the competition after victories over Premier League side Manchester City and Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund in the previous round.
The 22-year-old has scored two goals and has made one assist in 10 Champions League games, while Silva has netted six times and has created nine goals for the Ligue 1 leaders in their bid to win the French top-flight title.
Silva has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United after reportedly catching the eye of his compatriot Jose Mourinho during Monaco’s excellent 2016-17 campaign in France and in the Champions League.
Asked after Monaco’s 2-0 loss to Juventus in the first leg of their semi-final clash on Wednesday night about which of the French club’s players he would sign, Ferdinand picked Silva’s team-mate Kylian Mbappe.
However, the Manchester United legend quickly added that the Portuguese midfielder would be a good acquisition.
“I would take Bernardo Silva as well,” Ferdinand told BT Sport.
Manchester United travel to Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
