Gary Neville predicts Man United will have massive transfer budget for the summer
The Manchester United legend believes Jose Mourinho could spend up to £200m in the summer
Gary Neville has topped Jose Mourinho to spend around £200m on new Manchester United signings this summer.
The Red Devils signed four players in the summer transfer window following Jose Mourinho’s appointment as Louis van Gaal’s successor in May 2016.
The Manchester United manager signed Paul Pogba in an £89m deal from Serie A giants Juventus to smash the world record transfer fee.
Mourinho also brought in Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan in deals exceeding £60m in last summer’s transfer window.
Manchester United are in fifth place in the Premier League table and five points adrift of Liverpool in the top four.
The Red Devils could win the Europa League after Marcus Rashford netted a winner in the first leg of their semi-final clash in Spain.
Speaking to Monday Night Football about Mourinho’s potential signings in the summer, former Manchester United defneder Neville said:
“Manchester United have the largest chequebook in the world at the moment in terms of fees.
“Jose Mourinho has been unbelievable in the transfer market over the last few years, you’ve got to accept that.
“Getting £45m for Scheiderlin and Depay… maybe if De Gea leaves it will be £60-70m.
“He’s probably going to have £200m to spend. He’s only signed four players at Manchester United in one transfer window. Give him one more transfer window.”
Manchester United won the EFL Cup in February thanks to a 3-2 win against Southampton.
