Harry Redknapp: Man United could sign this player in the summer
Harry Redknapp suggests Manchester United could re-sign Michael Keane from Burnley this summer
Harry Redknapp believes there is a chance Manchester United could re-sign Michael Keane in a big-money deal from Burnley this summer.
The defender, who came through the youth system at Old Trafford, left Manchester United to sign for Burnley in 2015 after being deemed surplus to requirements by then manager Louis van Gaal.
Keane has been in good form for Burnley this season and has earned plenty of praise for his strong performances for Sean Dyche’s side.
Manchester United have been linked with a possible bid to bring Keane back to Old Trafford in the summer transfer window as Jose Mourinho considers bolstering his defensive options ahead of next season.
Redknapp says he has heard the deal may go through but also expressed his surprise with a growing trend of big clubs re-signing players they have previously sold.
Redknapp wrote in the Evening Standard: “If Romelu Lukaku does sign [for Chelsea], it will be another case of a player leaving for next to nothing only to be re-signed a few years later for a silly amount.
“Pogba is the obvious example of that. Michael Keane might be going back to United, too, for a big fee.”
Manchester United will host Crystal Palace in their final Premier League game of the season on Sunday afternoon.
