Pundit questions why Man United would sign James Rodriguez
Kevin Kilbane doesn't understand why Manchester United would want to sign James Rodriguez this summer
Kevin Kilbane has questioned why Manchester United would want to sign Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez this summer.
The Colombia international’s future has been a source of constant speculation throughout the 2016-17 season about a potential move to the Premier League this summer.
Rodriguez has found his first-team opportunities limited under Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane after falling behind Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, Isco and Cristiano Ronaldo in the pecking order.
Manchester United will finish in sixth place in the Premier League table after a disappointing campaign under Jose Mourinho last term.
The Red Devils can still qualify for the Champions League if Manchester United beat Eredivisie giants Ajax in the Europa League final.
Speaking to Irish radio station Newstalk about increasing speculation surrounding Rodriguez and Manchester United, former Everton defender Kilbane said:
“It doesn’t make sense. There are four or five players who are similar type players.”
The South American has netted eight goals and has made six assists in 21 appearances in La Liga this term.
Rodriguez has scored 28 goals in 76 games in La Liga in three seasons since the Colombian star moved to Real Madrid from Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco in the summer.
