Steve McManaman: This would be a perfect signing for Man United
Former Liverpool midfielder Steve McManaman believes Jan Oblak would be a good signing to replace Man United no1 David De Gea
Steve McManaman believes Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak would be a good signing to replace Manchester United number one David De Gea.
The Spain international has been linked with a move to Real Madrid at the end of the season following another impressive season at Old Trafford.
De Gea has been touted as a Madrid target in the past but a big-money move has failed to materialise despite the shot stopper coming close to a switch in 2015.
Atletico goalkeeper Oblak has been a name linked with Manchester United as a possible replacement should De Gea leave Manchester United after six seasons.
The Slovenia international was powerless to prevent Atletico from losing 4-2 on aggregate to their bitter rivals Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final on Wednesday night.
Speaking to BT Sport about whether Oblak would be a suitable replacement for De Gea should the Manchester United number one leave, McManamam said: “They would sign him in a heartbeat.”
Manchester United signed De Gea in a £17m deal from Atletico Madrid in 2011.
