Guillem Balague reveals how much Man United will spend on new signings this summer
The La Liga expert believes Manchester United will have a transfer budget of £400m in the summer transfer window
Guillem Balague believes Manchester United will have £400m to spend on new signings this summer.
The Red Devils splashed £150m on new signings in the 2016 summer transfer window following Jose Mourinho’s appointment as their new manager.
Manchester United signed Paul Pogba in a world-record £89m deal from Serie A giants Juventus back in August 2016.
Mourinho has been heavily linked with a move to sign Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann in the summer transfer window.
Manchester United have also been touted with an interest in Monaco’s teenage sensation Kylian Mbappe.
Both French striker would command significant transfer fees given their electric performances throughout the 2016-17 campaign.
Speaking during a question and answer session with Sky Sports about Manchester United’s apparent interest in Griezmann, Balague discussed Mourinho’s transfer budget.
“This is the summer where Manchester United will spend £400m if they need to, Manchester City will spend £200m at least and everybody in the Premier League’s top-six will have at least £100m to spend,” Balague said.
The Red Devils are in sixth place in the Premier League table following a mixed first season at Old Trafford.
Manchester United won the EFL Cup thanks to a 3-2 win against Southampton at Wembley in February.
Mourinho’s men will face Ajax in the Europa League final on Wednesday 24 May.
