Insider reveals truth behind Kylian Mbappe transfer plans amid Chelsea, Man United link
French football expert Julien Laurens believes Man United target Kylian Mbappe wants to remain at Monaco
Kylian Mbappe would prefer to stay another season at Monaco despite interest from a host of Europe’s top clubs, according to a Ligue 1 expert.
Julien Laurens has lifted the lid on the transfer saga involving Mbappe and a host of Europe’s top clubs ahead of what promises to be an intriguing summer transfer window.
Mbappe has established himself as a key player in the Monaco side after the teenager scored five times in nine games in the Champions League group stage this term.
The 18-year-old has also netted 14 times in 26 games to help Monaco to move to within a point of Ligue 1 glory this season after losing to Juventus on aggregate in the Champions League semi-finals.
According to reports earlier this season, Manchester United failed with a £69m bid for the France international as the Red Devils look to raid Monaco for the second time in three summer transfer windows.
Premier League champions Chelsea and FA Cup finalists Arsenal have also been linked with a move to sign the 18-year-old.
Speaking to Irish radio station Newstalk about Mbappe’s future, French football expert Laurens shed some light on the Monaco starlet’s plans.
“There are two sides. He is very mature. He is 18. His dad looks after him. He is very clever,” Laurens said.
“Monaco thinks the right thing is to stay. He knows if he stays with Monaco, he will play all the time. He wants to play in 2018 World Cup.
“If someone comes in with 150m offer, Monaco and Mbappe would find it very hard to turn down.”
Laurens added: “I do think he realises that it is much better for him to stay at Monaco. He would be the big star there and a very key player. There are lot of factors that says he is going to stay.”
