Paul Merson urges 18-year-old striker to reject Chelsea, Man United transfers
The Arsenal legend doesn't believe Kylian Mbappe should complete a move to Chelsea or Man United in the summer
Paul Merson says Kylian Mbappe should resist the urge to move to Chelsea or Manchester United in the summer.
The France international has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in the summer transfer window following an exceptional season at AS Monaco.
Mbappe has scored five goals in eight games in their Champions League campaign after scoring in both legs of their aggregate wins against Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund.
The 18-year-old has also netted 14 times in 25 games in the Ligue 1 to highlight his undoubted talent amid growing interest in the Monaco talent.
Manchester United were reported to have failed with a £72m offer for the France teenager in recent weeks as the Red Devils look to steal a march on their rivals.
Chelsea continue to be linked with a move for the 18-year-old despite previously rejecting the chance to sign Mbappe before his rise to prominence.
Writing in his Daily Star column, former Arsenal midfielder Merson had some advice for Mbappe:
“Mbappe is a special player and he has been on fire this season, which is why people are talking about silly money for him. But he could sign for a bigger club and end up hardly playing next season.
“Would he start every game at Real Madrid or Barcelona? I don’t think so. He should stay at Monaco. They are set up to play exactly how he likes and he knows he will be the main man there every single week.”
