Pundit explains why Chelsea, Man United won’t sign Kylian Mbappe this summer
Emmanuel Petit doesn't expect Kylian Mbappe to leave Monaco this summer, in spite of interest from Chelsea and Manchester United
Kylian Mbappe won’t leave Monaco in the summer despite lucrative offers from the Premier League, according to Emmanuel Petit.
The France international has established himself as one of the most-exciting strikers in the Europe over the past three or four months.
The teenager has scored 15 goals in 27 appearances in Ligue 1 as the striker helped Monaco to win the French top-flight crown ahead of Paris Saint-Germain.
Mbappe netted six times in nine games in the Champions League before losing to Serie A giants 4-2 on aggregate in the semi-final.
Manchester United were reported to have made a £69m offer for Mbappe ahead of the 2017 summer transfer window.
Arsenal and Chelsea have also been touted as potential destinations to sign the 18-year-old ahead of the 2017-18 campaign.
Speaking to bWIN about Mbappe’s future at Monaco, former Arsenal midfielder Petit said:
“I think Mbappe will stay for one more season as the World Cup is coming. This season he’s been brilliant but he’s still young.
“If you hear what he and his family say, he’s very happy at Monaco.
“It’s not just him – all the young players at Monaco have improved so much so I don’t see him moving, unless Jardim leaves of course.
“If that happens, it alters a lot of players’ plans.”
Mbappe has scored 26 goals and has made eight assists in 45 appearances in all competitions for club and country in the 2016-17 season.
