Rio Ferdinand tells Man United to sign this player in the summer
The Manchester United legend is a big fan of Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe, urging Premier League clubs to sign the teenage striker
Rio Ferdinand says Manchester United should prioritise signing Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe in the summer transfer window.
The France teenager has been one of the most exciting players in the Champions League this season after the teenager helped AS Monaco reach the last four of Europe’s premier club competition.
Mbappe scored in both legs of Monaco’s outstanding victories over Premier League giants Manchester City and Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund in the previous two rounds of the Champions League.
The Monaco striker, however, was powerless to prevent Monaco from losing 2-0 to Serie A giants Juventus in The Principality on Wednesday night in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final.
Mbappe has scored 14 goals in 25 games in Ligue 1 this season, while the 18-year-old has also netted five times in eight Champions League fixtures.
Manchester United were reported to have made a £72m offer for Mbappe earlier this season as Jose Mourinho looks to prepare for the 2017-18 campaign.
Speaking to BT Sport about his favourite player in the Monaco side, Ferdinand admitted that Premier League clubs should make signing Mbappe a priority.
Asked to name the Monaco player that the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United should be targeting, Ferdinand said: “Mbappe.”
The Manchester United legend added: “He was quiet but he still had two very good opportunities through his good movement.”
