Gary Neville believes Tottenham Hotspur need to sign a world-class winger in the summer transfer window.

Spurs have been the Premier League’s best team over the past 24 months despite missing out on the Premier League title last term.

While Leicester City pipped Tottenham to the title last season, Chelsea are four points clear of their London rivals with four games to go.

Harry Kane is Tottenham’s leading goal-scorer with 21 games in 24 games in the Premier League this term.

England midfielder Dele Alli won the PFA young player of the year for the second successive season after 18 goals and five assists.

Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen have helped Tottenham secure the best defensive record in the Premier League.

Argentina winger Erik Lamela has been sidelined with a long-term injury since October to leave Pochettino without one of his key players.

Speaking to his Sky Sports podcast about what signings Tottenham require in the summer, Neville said: “You could argue a wide player is something that would be very beneficial to Tottenham.

“A star wide player. In centre-forward position, they’ve are fantastic with Harry Kane. You’re talking back-up for him.

“Defensively they are good. You’re just talking back-up players. The goalkeeper is very good. The overall quality good but a wide left or a wide right.”
