Petr Cech has warned Liverpool that Arsenal are ready to capitalise on any slip-ups from the Reds as the race for a top-four finish hots up.

Arsenal kept their faint hopes of finishing in the top four alive on Wednesday night with a 2-0 win at Southampton thanks to goals from Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud.

That win lifted Arsene Wenger’s men up to fifth place in the table and four points behind Liverpool, who have played a game more than the Gunners.

Arsenal would only be able to overtake Liverpool if the Reds drop points in at least one of their final two remaining games against West Ham and Middlesbrough.

And goalkeeper Cech has told the Merseyside club that the Gunners are ready to capitalise on any mistakes from Jurgen Klopp’s side in the race for Champions League qualification.

Cech told Arsenal’s website: “I think it will give us a hope, because if we keep the pressure on the other teams, maybe they will have an unlucky game or drop points somewhere.

“We need to make sure we are ready to take advantage of that.

“We concentrate on our games, we go game-by-game and we have to win all of them to give ourselves a chance. Then we will see what happens.”
